A judge has ordered the arrest of a £1m scratch card winning Cornwall woman after she went on holiday instead of giving evidence in court. Chip shop worker Leah Sumray 21 ignored a witness summons and went to Fuerteventura instead of Truro Crown Court in Cornwall.

Ryanair today said it expects to double the number of passengers it carries annually to 100 000 over the next five years. Speaking at an airline industry conference in the Netherlands Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary said the number of bases will be increased from around 19 or 20 to 40 over the same period.

A final decision to launch a ferry route between the Spanish Canary Island of Fuerteventura and the southern-most port of Morocco Tarfaya has been made. The new line which is to transport both persons and goods is to be inaugurated no later than next summer the autonomous government of the Canary Islands has announced.

The daily states that about a hundred wood and Zodiac boats have arrived on beaches of Fuerteventura Lanzarote and Gran Canaria with dozens of people on board. Fuerteventura - Rescuers on Thursday found 13 bodies and at least four people suffering from severe hypothermia in a boat that was towed to this island in Spain's Canary archipelago emergency services officials said. But civil guard officials said the vessel which had a total of 33 people aboard was unlikely to be the one they have been searching for since Tuesday.

The strike has been called for Saturday Sept 2 and Monday Sept 4 two of the busiest days at the airport the newspaper said. Iberia has been hit by a slew of industrial action by both pilots and ground crew the worst of which caused the direct cancellation of around 240 flights a day for three days in July costing an estimated 15-25 mll eur.

Triple the amount of illegal immigrants have arrived by boat on the Canary Isles this year compared to last year. On Wednesday the Canary Isles government said it had counted a total of 14,589 immigrants between the start of this year and Sunday.
